2I don’t hate the players coming back to the Rays ( I don’t love them either), but I don’t think there is much chance the Rays trade Aroz at this valuation. For the last 3 years Aroz has hit between 124 and 127 wRC+. For some reason he hit only 39 wRC+ in March and April, and his trade value plummeted from around $33MM to around $4MM. Since the end of April he has hit 132 wRC+, which is much more like his normal performance, and yet his trade value has only gone back up to $8MM. At that level, the Rays will just hold him until the offseason. Now, if you want to offer around $20MM or so for Aroz, the Rays might just listen.
I agree. I did another trade with Arozarena+Eflin, and went with an overpay for that. Relieving the Rays of having to pay $18M next year probably helps bring the value of Arozarena down some. We'll see. This might be a fun trade deadline (for a change).
