Rays have pitching for next year. They need better bats. Trading their current bats for more pitching won’t be something the Rays will be interested in doing.

Better bats are coming for the Rays. Orioles, Rays, Red Sox all have highly touted bats coming over the next few years in the A.L. East and Jasson Domínguez just arrived for the Yankees.

Those bats aren’t coming next year though, and this trade includes young controllable bats like JC and J.Lowe. With this trade the Rays rotation would be 10 deep and their bats would all be sub-replacement level. Makes no sense for next year or beyond.
