5Assuming Athletics want to shed payroll and capitalize on rooker value
Down vote for the A's. They aren't looking to shed payroll, they've got 5 arb-eligible guys and the rest of the roster is making league minimum.
maybe. But Rooker is only going to get more expensive and will never have more value than he does now. He will be a free agent before they get to LV and they're playing at least the next three years in minor league park.
Everything you say about Rooker specifically is accurate but the A's '24 payroll was around $63 MM and their current '25 commitments are $30 MM. Payroll has been shed. If they want to trade Rooker for young talent then I don't think they'd build a deal around an infielder coming off a PEDs suspension.
yeah, the more I think about it, if you were to trade him, it would be to a team with big league pitching like a Seattle, Boston, Chicago.
