Devers move to 1B doesn’t actually permanently happen until the deadline (or next off season) when/if Casas is traded. Yoshida lingers on the IL until the end of May. Until then Devers/Arenado share 3B/DH duties and both also get starts at 1B. If the Cardinals prefer to not include cash they can send 1yr of Helsley instead, their choice.

I hate it, but it isn’t unrealistic. I do think if the Sox acquire Arenado, they use Devers and Casas in the alternating DH/1b roles. Why DH Arenado and his Fort Knox of defensive hardware? I’d prefer Helsley over cash, as it replaces Whitlock’s IP. But I don’t think Bloom sees it that way. But we do know he likes Whitlock.

Farther time. Hey if if his defense remains he’d stick at 3B for sure but farther time is inevitable plus I believe the Red Sox are internally considering Campbell as a legit Major League SS & Mayer a 3B and wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how they lined up opening day In Worcester.

I think the Cardinals ask for a PTBNL. Whitlock shows 4yrs of control but the last 2yrs are club options for $8.25 & $10.5m and with Whitlocks injury history they could be skeptical, Bloom ask for Nazzan Zanetello as the PTBNL. Breslow is ok with Nazzan Zanetello and counters with the addition of Helsley but reduces the cash to $5m. 🤝 done deal, it all starts here but finishes here; https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/177272
