If the players are so bad then why are the Cubs getting a marginal increase in value?
Because they’re barely getting paid anything and Seiya is getting paid $20m a year. Look at the AFVs
I think the reason that the Cubs are trying to trade either Suzuki or Bellinger is due to positional, not financial, reasons. If they trade either one and get a pitcher or catcher, they can easily replace them with Canario, who deserves a shot, Caissie or Alcantara. Whatever they save on a deal like this would not be enough to buy a replacement player. Cubs say no!
