I see a lot of deals like this on BTV where the Cubs are throwing away prospects to rid themselves of Bellinger's contract. There is no reason for them to do this. They are not cash strapped. They will trade Bellinger only if they get talent back. Assad, Howard, and Rojas for Ginn and Langeliers makes sense. Then move Belli for Castillo.

I forgive you. But I'm tired of seeing Bellinger's name tossed around, like a throw-in on deals. Maybe there's some truth about Cubs wanting to save money. If so, I blame Carter Hawkins for infecting the front office with the Guardians' disease, which he caught from a mosquito in Tampa, while they were playing the Rays. Sure, Suzuki and Belli are available, because they can be replaced. But get some overpriced talent in return, i.e. , Luis Castillo.

Down vote for the A's. They don't have anyone internally that can replace Langeliers and they didn't sign Severino to a 2 year deal to trade a line-up mainstay for an A-ball SS. Assad is a solid, backend SP... which the A's have in abundance. I think the Cubs would have to include Amaya to get Langeliers because the Catcher market is thin everywhere else and somebody has to keep the ball from rolling back to the backstop.
