The Reds get a replacement for Candleario in Mead and Morel. They get a major impact bat prospect. Just a year ago, Mead and Morel were highly coveted. I think Cincy comes out well in this deal. The Rays get the closest thing to Zobrist that exists in the game. McClain can play golf glove CF, gold glove 2b, and average or better SS, while getting a great RH bat. I doubt McClain could be had, but I would trade anyone who isn't Caminero for him.
Yeah, I’d do this trade in a heartbeat. Mead and Morel have very little value and aren’t (or shouldn’t be) in the Rays’ plans for the future. Isaac could be really good but the Rays have an abundance of riches at 1B as is.
So what do you do you do with Candelario? With buyout he is owed aprox 31 million over this year and next. Also Reds need OF mostly.

Candelario was a bad signing on day 1 but the Reds are stupid if they just stick their head in the sand and play him daily for the next 2 years regardless of performance. With this trade, the Reds get Mead for free and he comes with an option. He could be sent to AAA initially while the Reds give Candy more time to right his 2025 season, but either way they should be trying to trade him. He’s not a good player. Even if the Reds have to eat some cash, they’d be fine overall because everyone coming over from the Rays makes league minimum. Morel by the way is playing LF these days and hitting 136 wRC+. Just a thought though. I’m not a Reds fan and this wasn’t my trade proposal.
