Long hit .340 in AA last year, and he's tearing it up in AAA. Big home run hitter in college. Could be nice complement to Casas at 1B in the future. Taillon takes over for Houck, who looks to be injured. $40 mil. cash reduces annual value of Devers contract to roughly 26 mil, if my figures are correct, which seems tolerable. Red Sox get rid of a headache and Cubs plug a black hole at 3B and pick up a nice pitching prospect. Shaw will have to hit his way back on to the team or wait till Tucker walks and Suzuki goes back to RF.

Forgot to mention, I would insert Pressly into Taillon's place in Cubs rotation. He gives up too much hard contact to be a closer. He still throws 93-94, which is about the same as Jameson. Plus, he has a slider and a change. So he profiles mores as a starter/long reliever, imo. Just need to stretch out his arm. Turner and Long take over at first for Red Sox.
