1The Royals can't possibly be happy with their 2B situation, so this trade has them targeting the power hitting LHB of B.Lowe to plug into 2B (and 1B/DH if desired) for the next 1.5 years. Lowe has a team option for next year, so there’s no commitment beyond 2025 if the Royals decide not to exercise it. From the Rays perspective, they need to improve their catcher position. They have some potentials in AAA, but the more catchers in the System the better (and Ramirez would arguably jump to the head of the class). The Royals have Mitchell and Jensen ahead of Ramirez and can afford to part with their third best catching prospect. This trade makes a ton of sense to me, but the Royals could also use help at 1B/DH and in the outfield, so if the Royals prefer Y.Diaz or Morel to Lowe, a trade built around Ramirez would work for those guys too.
