2Cards can swap out a number 2 for a number 1 while Astros plug two pitchers holes. Saggese is good long term get for Astros and is just gathering dust in Memphis Other than Forcucci, none of the players have long term future in their current location IF the cards are legit, they will need a number 1 for playoff push, while Houston just seems to be filling holes right now. If Valdez delivers, cards might be in position to make a valid 4 yr offer for 2026. The salary swap is pretty much a wash.
Good thought process & if Mo's making the call, this might be a go. I don't think Bloom would be too happy. Even w/ Valdez the Cards will be 2 & done in the post season. They can say they made the playoffs but... I think Bloom (let me clarify, if I were Bloom) I would rather use Sags & Fedde/Matz to fetch a high end SP prospect or 2 for 26, when they are REALLY going to need reinforcements.
