4💁🏼♀️ 🤔 👀 Cora plays Rushing at C/1B, Anthony gets the call…..2 bats added to the lineup 👍 though time will prove Duran is missed and the lead off spot becomes a concern. 🤔🥰 Now Breslow gets serious about finding some pitching help. 👍 Pray for a deadline Bregman return 🙏
I’m confused. Duran is worth way more Rushing. The -1 value for Chapman is laughable the way he’s throwing and there’s simply no way the Sox would need to pay anything to facilitate a trade involving him. If the Sox plan on selling, contenders will be lining up for Chap a will bring back something decent without the Sox paying anything. I’m not sure if this idea is based on Buehler’s last start, but aside from that he’s been decent. No reason to pay someone to take him and lower Duran’s return in the process.
Because it’s not just Breslow, It’s Breslow & the Red Sox round table committee. Remember Sale & $17m for Grissom? Breslow is PBO in title only, any positional deals still have to go through the round table committee, but Breslow does hold the reins on the pitching side. So if Breslow would agree to move a couple of his pitching pieces in a deal for Rushing [and Cora, (who is part of the round table committee) is agreeable to using him as a C/1B] and the committee feels he’s a great fit, the committee would then be more inclined to view his future potential pitching deals in a favorable light. The politics of John Henry’s organizational philosophy for the Boston Red Sox.
Totally different situation with the Sale - Grissom deal. They wanted to move on from Sale, and were already under the Luxury Tax. They’re over the tax this season, money isn’t an issue. Just don’t see the logic in trading Duran, Chapman, Buehler and cash for Dalton Rushing only. They would be better off to keep Chapman and Buehler and trade Duran for Rushing and another prospect like Jackson Ferris.
