2Robert makes some sense for the Rays because he hits LHP well and they struggle against LHP. Cannon makes no sense for the Rays though. Rays have Shane McClanahan returning from IL, and J.Boyle and I.Seymour tearing up AAA. If the Rays opt to demote a SP, they have better internal options than Cannon. Rays say no to this trade.
I know the Rays rarely overpay in trades but Robert would thrive on the Rays. My guess is the Phillies or Mets overpay for Robert
