Corbin Carroll down with a fractured wrist. The DBacks playoff chances are finished. Sell the vets, get back cheap MLB talent, make a run at it next year. The Reds plug 2 massive holes, 1B and 3b. The Rays get a SS/CF who could win a gold glove at either position, and whom I believe is an above average bat.
Sure, this will work.
Suarez and Naylor are both FA next year. McLain is still three years away from FA and yeah he is having a down year hitting, his fielding seems to be stellar and his potential is sky high. Unless somehow the Reds found some money they would extend Suarez and Naylor which would be extremely unlikely, that would be the only scenario I would make this trade.
