3I don’t think they get multiple starters, and they would nevvver give up that much at all
Honestly, I'd say the Jays offer would be a bit light here. Alcantara is looking more like himself and has 2.5 years of control left, and Cabrera is way undervalued. This site has Mitch Kellar worth $30M and Cabrera worth $15M. Both have same control, but Kellar signed an extension that has him earning $15 or more per year while Cabrera goes through arbitration at the same time and makes under $2 this year. His pure stuff is better than Kellar but isn't a workhorse like him. I'd say they're a push, so Cabrera should be valued on here at about $25-30M. On top of that, most trades for pitching last year at the deadline were being rejected on this site, so you have to be giving up more than you're getting. And I think they should consider multiple starters if the opportunity is there. Can't assume Scherzer stays healthy from here on out, or Lauer continuing to throw like an ace.
For the record (because we have all the receipts), the only two starter overpays last summer were for Kikuchi and Flaherty. There were actually two underpays (Civale, Fedde). The others (Montas, Lorenzen, Rogers, etc.) were fair, all of which suggests that there is nothing amiss in the model here.
