4Think this is pretty fair for both sides. Reds don’t have a need for Lowder, with Abbott and Lodolo becoming reliable rotation arms. Hopefully Burns and Petty can do the same. And Singer has another year too. Athletics need starters with control. And if there’s one position group they’d need to improve in the near future, it’s probably the infield. I’m sure they’d love to get Collier or Stewart instead of Arroyo though. Reds have an obvious bullpen need.
Down vote for the A's. Lowder still hasn't returned to the mound. If the A's are shopping for infield help it would be at 3B, where Arroyo has never played. I think that level of uncertainty on both players makes the deal unlikely. I doubt they'd want Collier, he's a 1B. I'm not sure where Stewart will actually play.
Arroyo grades as such an elite defender, he can play anywhere. He does have a few starts at third in the Puerto Rican Winter League. But I’d imagine he’d be the shortstop considering how good his glove is. Wilson played a lot of third in college, and that’s likely where he grades the best with his above avenge arm strength and below average range at shortstop tho season. I also wouldn’t call Gelof a sure thing at second base, although he probably has a better chance to succeed over Muncy.
I'd agree on all those points regarding the A's infield. But Arroyo missed a year with a shoulder injury and hasn't hit with any authority this year. A glove-first SS prospect isn't going to be high on the Wishlist if the A's shop Miller. (Which they should. Or at least, actively listen.) And you still have the problem of Lowder not being able to pitch.
