I don't understand this deal from either side. Isn't Devers the DH? Even if he moonlights at 1B for a bit Eldridge is already in AAA. Rooker's time in the outfield should be kept at a minimum. Fisher is being compelled to spend on payroll to keep the revenue sharing checks coming. This trade slashes payroll by almost $45 MM in 2026; how do the A's make up that difference? It'll be even tougher to sign free agents if they trade 2 of the 3 players the signed to big money, multi-year deals less than 9 months later.
