1#3 and Final Trade. This one finishes up my trades, and the rest would be addressed in free agency. With the Braves sending Sean Murphy to the Rangers, who are in desperate need of an upgrade behind the plate, the Braves would have shaved $22M off next year's payroll in the combination of these three trades. With Ozuna and Iglecias' salaries also coming off the books, these trades offer Antholpolous plenty of room under the curtain to be a major player in free agency. Now, coming back to the Braves in this trade, I despecately tried to find a way to pry Rocker or Lieter away from the Rangers, but CY would say "No Way". So, I went to bolster the farm system with more talent. Winston Santos, who is #4 in the Rangers system, is an under-sized RHP, who makes up for his size by quality pitches in and out of the zone. Easily slides into the Top 5 in the Braves' farm system. Dyan Dreiling who is #8 in the farm system, is a strong hitter, who needs work finding his niche in the outfield. His arm strength is lacking, and he doesn't look natural in his routes when the ball is in the air. All things that could be worked out in the minors, and since he's only 22, he has some time to develop. Finally, I snatched Yeremy Cabrera. I added Carera, so that I could finally get Cal Conley out of the Braves system. He's done everything he's been asked, but has never had the opportunity to advance. Change of scenery may open the doors that have been closed on him in Atlanta. Cabrera is the Rangers #15 prospect. He's a 20 year old outfielder who can flat out fly on the bases and in the grass. The odd part about him, is he matches the speed with real power. I really like this kid, and think he would rise through the minors in the Braves system relatively quickly, and be a major contributor in the near future.
