Why would Cleveland trade Kwan for more pitching? They literally had the best ERA in September last year...

To begin with, the season is literally 6months long. Cleveland had great September. Their offense at C,CF,RF,is pretty weak. They do not have a 1B who can play defensively. It seems obvious they will need to include some pitching to trade for upgrades in the daily lineup. Are you still counting on McKenzie and/or Espino.?

Ummm.... The lineup needs help and you trade literally One of two proven guys for more pitching? Look my point is the fact, they need hitting and more hitting right now. Their rotation and bullpen are fine. Kayfus is actually a solid glove at 1B... Fry is coming back and will definitely play 1B. McKenzie is already a free agent, Espino won't be in the big league club in 26. Peterson will be added to the SP mix. Means is also coming back... They will have Bibee, Williams, Cecconi, Allen, Cantillo, Messick,Means, Nikhazy, Peterson as their rotation. Yes I get it they will need to trade pitching, but they need to add a hitter to Kwan, not trade Kwan for pitching. That literally solves nothing...

I read your reasoning and see nothing of value. Yes, I trade Kwan, knowing he is one of the two hitters they have. Yes, because he has attractive value ,offense and defense, but will require paid. Cleveland wants minimum wage players. They already need 2 OF but maybe DeLauter will be one, if he can last a whole season. I like Kwan but he is great trade bait. Their M.O. is bottomline. Fact. You say Kayfus is solid glove at 1B...yet they played him in RF a lot (more?) Fry already peaked. Move him. Manzardo can't play 1B so are you tying up DH ? Be serious. Who else would want Noel (Korea?) don't forget Brennan in OF mix. You list many pitchers ,so are they keeping Means? Which pitcher that you would trade would bring back an RH hitting OF that would start, hit,and play 145 games + play for minimum wage. Looking back on Diaz,C to Houston and Ciminero (age 22/23) with 45 HRs to TB and thinking I can't be too far off

You know Cleveland will keep guys to FA during playoff times right? This FO plans on being in the playoffs the next 3 seasons (as long as the lockout doesn't cause issues). They have been trying to internally figure out who they have the last couple seasons.... They have a solid rotation... They have a solid bullpen... They have two All-star hitters... Now, they need to add to that group... the word is "Add" not subtract... IF Kwan is being dealt, which will be an overpay, the Guardians will be getting back a major league ready OF prospect, a major league SP prospect, plus one or two more prospects that are a few years before they are Rule 5 eligible. You are looking at the return from the Dodgers being more like Freeland, Ryan, Lindsey in a sense... I think the Dodgers need to keep ahold of Henriquez anyways... Now the problem is the Dodgers don't have the position prospect Cleveland likely wants... Edit: They traded Naylor because they needed more rotation help. They had 1B depth and could get Santana. Santana actually cost them more than Naylor did monetarily. They aren't afraid to spend money, they are just careful about it.

To start with your Edit: They are cheap. Out of context Santana cost more, maybe a million full season. They moved Santana and might have saved some of that. Cecconi was added but Naylor,a solid hitter and fielder was the cost. He was easily 3rd best hitter and it hurt the offense. They still need rotation help, though the guy they got for Beiber might be good. Who would Allen bring in trade ? Nobody, I will save you the time. How about plan for Means ? (33, 6M, injured). Spotrac has 11 'starters' listed with 2026 contracts which include Allen,Means, Ortiz, Lively, Espino among the eleven. They could get nice return for Kwan. I hate their MO but see this as next up. Trade Rocchio ? Trade Arias?Trade Martinez? trade Manzardo ? Or who? for who? Keep trying to have deep cheap pitching ,SP and RP, and hope to win 3-2 all season. And keep having AL Central as their division. Ortiz, Clase situation straps them, unfortunately. Maybe they get rectified and return to previous status. I have no clue what will happen there. Currently is worse-case scenario for Cleveland.

They currently need rotation help... Have you not been paying attention? I mean the last month+ they had the top rotation ERA wise and the top Bullpen, without Clase and Ortiz... The whole group is super young and got better as the season went along... Allen has averagish stuff, but hes been literally one of the most durable SPs in baseball since he was drafted... There is a reason why his value is what like 15 on here... Allen might not even make the team out of spring next season.... Bibee, Williams, Cecconi, Cantillo, Allen and Messick were all solid down the stretch... 19 starts in a row giving up 2 or less runs... Lively is out for 26, he's not going to pitch and if he does it will be very late in the year. Espino isn't going to start in 26, he's limited to probably about 50ish innings... Ortiz may be banned... Those three are off the list for the SP rotation... The rotation going into camp is Bibee, Williams, Cecconi, Allen, Cantillo, Messick, Means, Nikhazy, Peterson... Id like another SP since I want them ten deep, but guys who are coming off of Tommy John always go to Cleveland. Plus they have a ton of AAAA depth pitching wise... They are the pitching factory for a reason. Now, when it comes to hitting... Kwan and JRam are proven.... Manzardo came into his own as a hitter... The rest are eh, but it's not like Cleveland doesnt have a solid enough farm to go get someone... Chourio, Stephen and Doughty package, on paper, is worth like 40... They don't have to trade Kwan to get what they need, that's for sure...
