Down vote for the A's. Warren was worth 2.1 fWAR, Wilson was 3.5 fWAR. Lombard needs another year before he's ready. This would be a step back for the A's when they want to shoot for over .500 in 2026.

i was thinking about 2027,in 2026 they should focus on signing and developing pitching that's why Will Warren and Chase Hampton are in the trade. i also thought about putting in gil instead of Leiter and Hamilton which could of made this deal better but by 2027 Leo De Vries, George Lombard Jr. and Tommy White should be reaching the majors. so there would be no place for Wilson and obviously the Yankee's need a new shortstop. i don't think they're ready to compete next year or make it too .500 so this trade is for two years down line so they can compete.

I don't think Forst is going to look ahead to 2027. Even if he was, Warren doesn't offer anything the A's don't already have in the rotation. They want to add impact to their rotation and that's not Warren. He's a workhorse, not a thoroughbred. Gil and Hampton have medical red flags; Hampton is still rehabbing TJS and I'm of the opinion you don't trade for a pitcher until they've made it back to the mound and proven that their arm is still attached. On a side note... White isn't going to push Wilson out because he's a 1B/DH.

If if if... Forst were looking ahead to 2027 then I'm not sure if Lombard would be a target because of De Vries. But you kind of need to include him to create a deal that makes sense. (Not that Forst makes a lot of deals that make sense.) The A's like advanced arms, so ERC or Lagrange would probably be high on their list. Maybe both. I'm not versed enough on Yankee arms to know who has the higher ceilings.
