I don’t think this trade works for the Rays. McNeil is problematic because of his salary and lack of position (Aranda has 1B, B.Lowe has 2B and Caminero has 3B). If the Rays trade Pep, it will be to open a spot in the rotation for someone else on the roster (or a free agent), not to swap him for a pitcher with fewer years of control. Vientos and Alvarez might work, but personally, I would rather see them go the rebuild route and get minor leaguers back in trade.
