The trade is a great one, but your idea of trading outfield talent for pitching being a bad idea is laughable. That's where you make a trade to spend on a hitter elsewhere. You trade from strength to get better in other areas. That how you balance things.
This trade proposal reads nothing about spending on a hitter elsewhere. I can only vote & comment on what is posted.
I wouldn't take much stock into that opinion tbh.
You have 4 outfielders for 3 spots and that's not counting Garcia/Refsnyder/Cambell. You can almost gurantee one of those guys get traded. They have holes in the infield and SP2. It wouldn't be devestating to the lineup unless you assume they make zero other moves and roll with Vaughn Grissom and David Hamilton at 3B/2B. Conveibly one could say to trade one of the outfielders for an infielder and go out and sign a pitcher.
This is not a logical opinion at all. Trading Duran for a SP2 is the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone. I really don't understand your opinion on this when I can see them bringing back Bregman & signing Alonso/Schwarber. You're saying Bregman signs elsewhere. Why? What is his market? Detroit? Who offered him a big deal last year and he still turned it down, and now he's a year older coming off the quad injury? The best fit for him is coming back to Boston.
So no other moves? Keeping Duran puts Early in the rotation instead of Greene, and one of Abreu, Rafaela, Anthony or Duran on the bench in place of Eaton. Not seeing anything to fix other issues.
It’s not my trade proposal notin. I simply pointed out what the roster would look like if this trade is made as it is posted. But, keeping Duran does not put one of Abreu, Rafaela, Anthony or Duran on the bench, they rotate through the DH, Yoshida goes to the bench, albeit an expensive one, but makes the offense deep & dangerous.
