Brewers stated they need to move some payroll... Vaughn's payroll projection isn't very team friendly, so Brewers ship Vaughn off with a solid prospect, and get a prospect in return. Brewers being good at developing pitching, get a guy back they can develop but is aways off from the bigs. Red Soxs, essentially take a better prospect while taking Vaughns contract. Casas, they don't know when he will be back, so Vaughn is at least a stop gap until that time.

💁🏼♀️ Bostons front office views the ‘26 season and the team as World Series contenders. They are looking at and for players that are currently playing at the highest level of their spectrum. This doesn’t move the needle for them in a positive direction. They quickly and politely pass and tell the Brewers to call back in June if Woodruff is pitching well. 😃
Brewers aren't going to be trading Woodruff, Peralta since they need that rotation... The comment you made in my other trade essentially stated that picture, or you going back on the words in the other deal? Boston actually comes out ahead on paper with this deal... Now, I could try another team that needs 1B production as well, but the guy the Brewers will look to move is Vaughn...
Not going back on what I posted, just need to think it all the way through. They will need Woodruff but not past June if they are not playing well, and there would still be plenty of money left on his contract to warrant moving off their books if they choose to change directions come the middle of, or first of June vs waiting until the end of July.
