Cleveland would likely say no to Messick... Messick is almost guaranteed to be in their rotation. He's not a 100% lock, but outside of a bad spring, he's likely in it. Cleveland doesn't have the MLB depth in the rotation, so if anyone is Moved its Allen...
The suggestion was built around Messick being Cleveland's offer to the A's. If Cleveland only offered Allen there would be no conversation about Soderstrom. Personally, it's Bibee or Bust for Soderstrom but that ends all conversation on the Cleveland side. I hear what you're saying about Messick... but Soderstrom is a 100% lock in the A's 2026 line-up unless he's traded.
Soderstrom is one of those, I would love him for Cleveland... Now, if Cleveland gets a near ready SP prospect in a Kwan deal, then I think the availability of this deal completely changes. Like if Cleveland can get Freeland and Ryan from the Dodgers for Kwan, Cleveland does this deal yesterday... Hmm... I think I'll post an idea for a three team trade...
What are your thoughts about the Comp A pick?
Cleveland dislikes moving draft picks, but I could see it available for the right type of talent in 26 though... Soderstrom definitely would fit that since they badly need a middle of the order bat and he has 4 years of control... I could see the draft pick being available for an All-Star type with years of control, aka 4+ years I could them parting with it for a Soderstrom type... I feel like Cleveland needs to make that Andrew Miller type of trade this season...
Is there anyone on the Dodgers you think the A's would want?
I hear that Ohtani guy is pretty good. But other than swapping Chourio for Emil Morales there's not an easy fit. How messed up is Chourio?
I haven't heard anything major, and his fall league numbers state he's back to being healthy... He has had a broken left wrist (2024) and a right shoulder strain (2025)... Like I haven't heard anything that screams long term with the injury
