Isaac Lyon (low-A pitcher, not in system) also in deal going to Washington.

Been saying for awhile now that Harry Ford was overrated by media and fans and this trade proves it.

What are you talking about? Good defense and solid hit tool shown by his metrics https://prospectsavant.com/player/695670, but is clearly blocked, and the Nats just so happen to be lacking high upside catching, which can't be said for many other teams that can send back someone of value. If anything, this shows the Mariners see a guy with monster velo/stuff and multiple years of control, who could be a better option than Bazardo who blew it in the ALCS.

There's a pretty big difference from AAA to MLB but still I didn't say he was bad I said he was overrated specifically in mock trades that have him headlining star trades. I think we see his real value here. Ferrer isn't a bad piece but he's not a great piece either although I would up the value slightly because of the park he's going to. Could be a back of the bullpen arm could be Genesis Cabrera.

It comes up as an overpay by Seattle, but justifiably so. Ford was blocked by Cal Raleigh, and Ferrer is very good, with four years of control.

"Very good" is way too generous. Throws hard but a below average K rate and gets hit really hard. Thrives on getting ground balls and suppressing the home run. Home run suppression just doesn't get paid in free agency the way strikeouts do. He's a nice reliever with 3 years of control. I'd have just traded some shitty prospect for Peter Fairbanks and kept my top 50 prospect, but Dipoto loves to deal him some 'spects.

Once again: Ferrer has four years of control, not three. Don't know why you keep posting that incorrectly.

This is the first time the name Jose Ferrer has ever come out of my mouth. You have me confused with somebody else. I saw 39 games in his rookie year, and assumed he was credited with a full season. I guess I assumed wrongly, but I'm not spreading misinformation. That was my first comment on him. So I suppose we both need to do some research before we spout off ignorantly.

There's another comment under your name just below this one -- so that makes two.

Oh I see. The one I made 2 minutes before responding. Fair enough. I don't "keep saying" it. I said it twice in a minute and a half. Sorry, sometimes I go elsewhere for information because it's not always up to date here, and this time I got it wrong. On an unrelated note, But if we're publicly airing our grievances over perceived disinformation, Dietrich Enns hasn't played for the Rays in 4 years and Mason Auer switched to pitching 2 years ago.

No worries. And thanks for the catch on those two -- both have been updated.

So Harry Ford was available.... Embarrassing for the Rays that they targeted Fortes and Feduccia 4 months ago, only to watch Ford be traded for 3 years of a very replaceable reliever. I cannot describe how little faith I have in Tampa Bay Rays management.

Ferrer has 4 years of control, and is very good.

💁🏼‍♀️ Ford was blocked in Seattle but only from catching 100+ games a season, he certainly wasn’t blocked from potentially catching 50+ games yearly. The Nationals have a glaring need at the position and can give the opportunity to Ford during the spring to earn and to catch 80 + games in ‘26. It certainly wouldn’t surprise me to learn that there were multiple suitors for him. The Mariners were definitely on the hunt for LH RP and the 25yr (he doesn’t turn 26yr until March) with 4yrs of control and with high leverage experience certainly fills that need. 👍👍 And don’t forget about Isaac Lyon also going to the Nationals, the Mariners got their man and were willing to pay the price to get it done for a playoff contending club. Bravo 👏
