I can't remember the last time I heard anything positive about Brito's defense at 2B... but I'm sure it's still better than giving Thomas a go at the keystone! Thomas adds a RHH power bat with solid defense to Cleveland's outfield mix.
Hmm... The deal itself makes sense... Brito though is the better hitter of the two, but definitely isn't a good defender... I cannot see Cleveland parting with Brito at 6/7 value... I wouldn't even be surprised IF Kwan is traded that Brito starts the season in LF.... Guardians were at the bottom of the league in OBP% and Brito is likely the best OBP% in all of Cleveland's system... Heck there is a chance he knocks Rocchio off of 2B in the spring...

Can he play CF competently grover?
He's a better CF than Brito is a 2B but at best, he's comparable to a healthy Lane Thomas. You can play Colby in CF vs. a LHSP but you'd prefer a better defender vs. RHSP and in the late innings.
Yeah Brito is no 2B and it sounds like Thomas should only play CF in desperate times. Hard to find a good match these days. My guess is that Cleveland would just sign Lane Thomas to a 1 yr prove it type deal before giving up a good hitter like Brito.
Makes sense... provided they're willing to give Brito playing time. I prefer Thomas as trade bait for an arm but trade bait seems his primary role for 2026.
