Sox take on higher $ cost now but save $ in long run. Cards save about $34 m a year now and pick up 3 prospects, 1 controllable for 8 yrs, to aid in cost cutting and rebuild. Sox can platoon Arenado/Mayer at 3b. (until Marcello shows he can hit and play full season, Arenado can also mentor Mayer). Donnavan fills 2b hole, Contreas, slots as 1b rotation with Casas when healthy, (until Casas shows he can hit & play full season). Sox can then platoon 4 OF'ers between positions and DH, when (if) all are healthy. Would also sign Ozuna as RH DH at low cost 2yr deal for power at Fenway as platoon DH with LH OF'ers. Sox can look at SP market all year to pick up SP as they see how/if young crew of multiple SP's fare out. Short and long term this fits both teams needs.

💁🏼‍♀️ Ozuna will never wear a Boston uniform, and Campbell isn’t going anywhere. 👎

Not saying they would sign Ozuna, but I think he could be a good 2yr low-cost RH power bat that would do well in Fenway,(in platoon with 4 Outfielders). i;d consider him even with his poor personal history, and only if Yoshida was out of the picture.

All signs point to a Murakami signing. Let me explain. In the last 24hrs+ the Red Sox have; cried poverty, been linked to acquiring an aging 2B with a $100m+ contract that would require sending major league players and/or propects, had a zoom meeting with Bichette, will be having an in-person sit-down with Alonso, and Breslow stating he wants a home run hitter for the middle of the order. But let’s keep in mind that besides Devers, The Sox haven’t paid or bought a multi-year contract that would take a position player past the age of 34 since 2018.. So that leaves the 25yr Murakami left as the only real fit.. Maybe Bichette but not if he wants more then 6yrs, maybe Alonso but not if he wants more then 3yrs (but I’d give him the 4th). So Murakami for 8yrs, Alonso for 3yrs and Bichette for 6yrs - be a nice off season for the front office and the fans.

Can not see Sox signing these 3, perhaps 1, Murakami, only, if no other trades for inf are made. Most likely no big signings this season. Costs for FA higher than Sox will want to pay. A trade will be the way to pacify fans and fill needs this season, and they may get fleeced again.

Yea, those signings was a dream.

Another off season of lip service from the powers that be in the Red Sox front office. There will be at least 1 more year of lip service like this again during the ‘26 ‘27 off season. Besides Rafael Devers, The Red Sox haven’t paid or bought a multi-year contract that would take a “position” player past the age of 34 since 2018 and Devers was homegrown (Story has a club option for age 35 so if the club was to pick it up it be since 2022 instead of 2018). This is a team core philosophy. They’re not going to stray from it. Breslow may be PBO but he is only one voice that sits at the decision making round table headed by ownership that deals with decisions like “core philosophy” and this has been in place for almost the last decade. Breslow will have to bring any deal or trade for a player being payed and exceeding age 34yr to the table and make his case to get approval to get it done. I’m not saying it can’t be done but I don’t think he has all the pieces in place to get it pushed through yet. Because of this I think that leaves the 25yr Murakami left as the only real fit. Maybe Bichette but not if he wants more than 7yrs. Maybe Bregman if he wants to come back on a three year deal. Another dream.
