1For whatever reason, the Mets are being very hesitant about handing out free agent contracts. The Rays have a cheap young pitcher and first baseman with similar production as Pete Alonso making peanuts compared to what Alonso will make. I don't think either of these moves has much impact on the Rays postseason chances, and therefore they should restock the farm while giving themselves a modest chance at the postseason. This move gives them a lot of needed not-far-off minor league talent.
