Hey Radguy. I have no idea how a RP can be valued so high but I guess they have their reasons. At any rate I would not trade Abbott straight up for Miller. Reds need a LHRP anyway. We just signed our closer. Have a good day.

Think of it this way: if Miller was a free agent, at age 27, would he get a 4-year deal for $72M? Yes, he would. He'll likely outperform Edwin Diaz, whose new AAV is in the low 20s. Yet Miller is pre-arb, so only projects to earn $29.2M in salary; therefore there's a ton of surplus value there.

I guess so but RP can be so volatile. IMO Abbott is a solid #2. I think the Reds would value that a lot more than a relief pitcher even as good as Miller. But you gave me a wrinkle to think about in general. Thanks.
