1If the Rays are truly interested in Marte, this is the type of trade I’d prefer see the Rays make to get him. Most of the trades being proposed decimate the Rays 2026 rotation by requiring both Pep and Baz. This trade gives the D-Backs a mid-rotation SP (Pepiot) and a young dynamic outfielder (Simpson) for the 2026 team, along with a AAA pitcher (Nichols) who might contribute to the 2026 team and another pitching prospect for down the road (GGH). That’s a lot of good pitching in one trade, plus Simpson, but it shouldn’t keep the Rays from competing in 26.
