3I really can't find a place for Castellanos on the 26 man roster; he's likely cut at the end of ST. Going halvesies to help defray the cost for the Phillies is going to require a significant asset that isn't hurt.
The Phillies aren’t trading gage wood just to dump castellanos. They need an elite bullpen arm to consider that. Chace would be pushing it as well. If it would be Jean Cabrera and castellanos in this deal I’d consider it done.
Mace is going to miss most, if not all, of 2026. That's not worth eating $10 MM to me. I agree they won't trade Gage to clear Castellanos off the books but it needs to be someone in that 6 BTV range to make the deal work for the A's. Heredia can't stay on the field and Cabrera would face stiff competition in the A's system. Best case scenario... Castellanos puts on a show during Spring Training and someone finds themselves desperate for RH power (probably after an injury to a key player) and the A's can offload him at half price ($5 MM). More than likely the A's end up cutting him before Opening Day.
