I really think the Rays will snag Marte, but I wanted to see what a Donny & Crooks trade would look like. This would solve 2 problems for the Rays, but I don't think they traded Lowe to get OBP.

I really can’t see the Rays trading $32MM in trade value for a player to be part of a 70-75 win team if the Rays pitching holds up and 60ish win team if it doesn’t. Folks don’t seem to appreciate how bad the Rays are going to be after these trades. Their offense might be closer to 90 wRC+ than 100 wRC+, and it will sure as shit be under 100 wRC+. Then there’s the rotation. Yes, the potential is there for a good rotation, but (1) Ras is basically a 3X TJS pitcher, which has never existed before. His injury risk is huge. (2) McClanny hasn’t pitched in about 2.5 years and is coming off a “we don’t know if this surgery will work but we are out of other options” procedure. He may be retired in June for all we know. (3) Pep is fine. (4) Matz will be trying to convert back to a SP from the Pen. He hasn’t been a full time starter since 2021 because of injuries and he’s never been much better than a mid-rotation arm when healthy. (5) Boyle or Seymour (or Scholtens) will round out the rotation but I expect both to play a lot. Who knows how they’ll do. Point being - It won’t take much for the Rays rotation to be god awful next year. So why pay the cost to acquire Donovan?!?!? Rays are in rebuild mode.
