1The Rays Front Office sometimes fixates on a player who has great underlying stats (e.g., hard hit rate) and whose topline stats haven’t caught up yet. They then go out of their way to get said player, even if it means overpaying or passing up a better player. The Paredes for Morel trade was their last Fixation Mistake. From the interview Rays GM Neander gave after acquiring Melton, it sure sounds like he’s their latest fixation. So long story short, I don’t think there’s any chance the Rays will part with Melton.
