This is a slight twist on the trade I posted yesterday. Instead of trading away Benge, the Mets move Vientos instead. Vientos is supposedly on the block so that should work for Mets fans. So the full trade has the D-Backs acquiring a top pitching prospect who is ready for the Show after having a 2025 cup of coffee (Tong), a mid-rotation SP with 3 years of control (Pepiot), and Vientos, who can play 1B, 3B or DH. With DH being a need for Arizona (they were bottom third at DH last year with just a 101 wRC+), Vientos should be a piece they like. The Mets get a proven top bat for 2B. Marte makes the Mets a lot better and all it costs is Vientos (a player they were looking to move anyway), Williams (who is replaced by Marte and no longer needed), Tong (losing him hurts), and Rodriguez (a far off catching prospect). The Rays get their B.Lowe replacement in Williams and a couple lotto tickets for Pepiot.
