3massive overpay for a semi often injured player and a high level prospect with almost no value in the return. Especially since whisenhunt is 1 pitch away from his repertoire being lights out.
Trade rumors just had an article up about Hoerner that summarizes this perfectly. IF HE'S HEALTHY. Kilen, Whiz, and Casey Schmidtt already spell overpay since the latter 2 will likley make the opening day roster, adn the giants need a new 2B not named fitzgerald. Also the giants have a logjam of OF as is with gilbert, Ramos, Encarnacion, Jungy, and then mccray off the bench. They will likely trade matos in only a matter of time. The SF brass want to give Ramos another chance in LF but they have enough options to not even need to consider this trade
Ok, but a little confused by the comment. Yes, you’re right, Hoerner does seem to get banged up - potentially because he plays so hard?!? But “high level prospect with almost no value” just means that you don’t believe the hype for Caissie? I’ll admit that I don’t know a great deal about him, but that I see a need in the OF for Giants, and a glut of young talented OFs for the Cubs. As far as overpaying goes, well, I don’t reckon the numbers are THAT far off.
