1Zac Veen has a hole in his swing roughly encompassing the inside half of the strike zone, and he's not going to correct it without a trade. With Boston he might do that, and he does have plus speed if he were needed as a call-up in the event of injury. Yoshida could only play the OF on the road because of his defense, but he'd be an All-Star caliber DH against RHP. This trade postulates that Boston swallows hard and pays all of Yoshida's salary above MLB minimum, creating room on the 26-man roster for all four of their good-to-excellent candidates for the OF, negating the need for a trade of Duran. Yoshida would fill seats in Colorado; Veen would have a niche in Boston.
