Yeah, if the A's are intent on moving Severino then I think they'd consider paying down half his contract would be the minimum they'd have to do to get anything of value back. The A's keep Thomas and can still use him as a trade chip for a Bubic or Singer type and the cash savings pays for the rental pitcher.
