Alt. reality scenario where John Fisher makes like Ebenezer Scrooge on Dec. 23... Fisher got a call from his accountants and when they told him how much he's going to being paying his team in 2026 he demanded that his Front Office trade everyone making a million or more on salary. Forst objected and got fired for his troubles so we're trying to make the best of a very bad sitation. The A's can't send cash and they can't take back a 7 figure salary. The A's have 9 players they need to move, and move them quickly. BAH HUMBUG!!!
The A's use Butler to clear salary at positions of need for the Giants. Severino and McNeil are potentially 1 year commits while Butler could a mainstay for the next 7 years. Schmitt was penciled in to start at 2B in SF but now he's headed to the hot corner in Sacramento. Gilbert goes into the mix in the A's outfield.
