1KC got 69 wRC+ and -2.4 fWAR from the DH position last year. That’s pretty awful. They need someone like Diaz in a bad way. The Rays are probably not going to trade Diaz before the trade deadline, but if they do, this trade provides the Rays with another good catching prospect in Ramirez, a CF prospect with a big bat but also a big K problem (a Rays favorite), and a good far off pitching prospect. There’s a lot of high risk/high reward in this trade. I like it but I also like a trade package headlined by Shields that I’ll post. Shields is a good lefty SP, and the Rays have no lefties in their farm.
