KC got 69 wRC+ and -2.4 fWAR from the DH position last year. That’s pretty awful. They need someone like Diaz in a bad way. The Rays are probably not going to trade Diaz before the trade deadline, but if they do, this trade provides the Rays with the one thing their Farm doesn’t have - a good LHP. This trade is essentially a 1 for 1 trade, but Roccaforte is an intriguing prospect himself, as he has a ton of defensive talent but will probably only go as far as his bat, and more specifically his K rate, takes him.
