2Okay, here's a new one, the Snakes are keeping Marte & Lawlor needs to upgrade his game to be an MLB 3B. Here's his chance to get playing time giving Nado a blow. Nolan's only got 2 years left and this money makes him VERY affordable with very good defense. Then there's Libby, AZ needs at least one arm, Libby is forecast for 157 innings at 4ish era & control till 2030. This for their #8 prospect and a Comp A pick.
Most of the trades in the offseason have involved veteran players receive a premium value over prospects by about $5-8. Also, giving the Cards a player who is 3 years out for a young cost controlled starter and a competitive balance pick is not the window the Cards are striving for and also an underpay based on trades this offseason to date. The Cardinals also need hitters. Put Tommy Troy into the deal instead of the Competitive balance pick and the deal makes more sense for the Cardinals.
