3This comes out as a Moderate Overpay but Medina is very much a boom/bust arm as he returns from TJS. The Comp B pick is an insurance policy for the Reds. Singer gives the A's the kind of arm that'll solidify the middle of their rotation for 2026.
The Reds need a proven power bat. They've got pitching for days (although you can never have too much). Singer should bring back a guy who can slug 20HR at the major league level. Clarke could do that.
Clarke could but the A's can't replace his glove, not in 2026. And since Singer is a rental the hole dug is deeper than the hole being filled. Thomas is about as proven with the bat as Clarke and he might do better with the OBP but the glove is a lot less.
