Luckily you don't have to be on the fence, Cleveland isn't trading this draft pick unless it is a proven all-star with years of control coming back in the deal... DeLuca isn't that
Oh c'mon SC! You have to know what you're saying is most likely 100% bs? Deluca was limited to 20 games last season, but managed to slash .333/.356/.456. If he's healthy they'd be certifiably insane to turn this offer down. He's a very well rounded CFer and fits exactly what Cleveland needs. Again, if healthy. Personally, if I'm the Rays there is no way I'm selling this low on him and if they do then I'd be asking why? You know it was Pepiot and Deluca that were sent to the Rays for Glasnow and Margot don't you?
Ummm... DeLuca had a xBA/xwOBA/xSLG in 24 of .229/.277/.327... In 25, he didn't even play enough games to legitimately get any numbers... He had plus in speed, fielding and baserunning, but his hitting was not good... Cleveland doesn't trade draft picks, even if they did, they aren't giving it up for Deluca... I am not saying they wouldn't try to acquire him, but they aren't giving up their draft pick for him, not when he has had injury issues and hasn't shown he can truly hit...
LOL! I love how you try to use "expected" stats. Brings to question if you know how accurate expected stats are. Here's the bottom line. He was a damn good prospect coming up. He hit and played good CF defense which caught the eye of many a Guardians' fan. I know I was pining for him and if I recall correctly so where you. There is no way an astute organization like the Rays are trading Deluca at such a low value, but if they would then giving up an first round comp pick is a no brainer. Even for a team that typically doesn't trade their draft picks. That brings us to just because they haven't doesn't mean they won't. You continually pull these ideas out of nowhere and state them as fact when they are the furthest thing from being a "fact". If Deluca is healthy, he's a better CF option than anyone Cleveland has on the roster. With the strength of Cleveland's farm system they can afford to give up a comp pick and I'm sure they would if given the opportunity. I'm sure because it would be nonsensical not to.
It wouldn't make any sense for Cleveland to trade a round A draft pick for an often hurt OF who has four years left of team control... Cleveland lives in the draft and DeLuca didn't do anything hitting wise the first time he was given a runway in Tampa... I am not saying we wouldn't trade for him, but the way this organization works, they wouldn't be willing to give up a Round A pick for him...
