1Donovan balances Red Sox Line up and provides an experienced leader. Cardinals HAVE to stabilize their outfield and this does it at a low cost financially. The cash and picking up the tab for Houck ( Who likely will become irrelevant to Boston soon) may be attractive for the Sox. For Boston, Abreu needs a right handed platoon partner or he sits. Is his value overstated a bit ? Houck can be another lottery ticket for Stl pitching. Donovan’s power profile does meet STL needs of an outfielder and STL has immediate solutions for 3B and 2B that need to play out. This move would then open door for a Nootbaar trade at deadline, or at least keep the team from tanking by the first month of the season if they don’t add OF production. Top it off by signing Miguel Andujar and suddenly the cards go from lower tier results to consistent mid tier OF production.
