8If this is the final version, it looks pretty fair. Our system rejected it, but not sure why.
I like this for the Mariners. I think it's a solid return for the Cardinals; I'm not a Tai Peete fan but I get the appeal of the tools. I don't understand Williamson to the Rays. His carrying tools is his glove but he's not replacing Caminero at 3B... so why is he on the roster?
Rays won the trade!
Seems to make sense all around. Nice diversified prospect package for a non-contender. SEA retains their top 6 prospects and gets a flexible win-now piece. TBR gets the sort of utility piece that thrives in their org for a guy in the long tail of a deep system.
Finally, it's happened and I think it's a fair trade all round
Williamson is athletic enough to play a little bit everywhere, even if his glove is optimal on the left side of the diamond. I'd expect the Rays find him a bench upgrade as a potential super-ute over Taylor Walls, and the 70 grade glove makes for a nice late innings replacement. (And they got 6 years of him for very little.)
I wonder if Caminero is staying at 3B?
Peete is young for the level, and BA rates him as a 60 Extreme, so yeah -- big upside but also big error bars.
