if Miller isn't hurt how does this trade look after that? I don't think this is they're year if competing, feels like a team for 2027...
I think it's always a bad look to trade a guy within a year of signing him to an extension. Setting that aside... if Miller's healthy but 2026 isn't supposed to be a competitive year then why are the A's trading the younger player player with more years of control? Trading for Bryce Miller is a Win Now move, which makes the inclusion of Yorger Bautista problematic. I think Soderstrom for Miller straight up would be a huge win for Seattle so you need that secondary piece to balance the deal but it has to a big league player. Canzone and Ferrer are the two closest in value, with Ferrer filling a greater need for the A's but Canzone being more readily available if the M's are acquiring Soderstrom. I don't think Canzone is anything more than a platoon bat and he's at peak trade value for Seattle; he'd also be an easy No for me. A healthy Miller + Ferrer at least addresses the A's stated core Needs for 2026 and going forward.
