11Cash is not real. I think teams are going to have to overpay for Sandy relative to his value on this site. Marlins get young controllable SP, corner bat and upside OF prospect. Guards build a top 3 with Tanner and Gavin that can match with anyone in a playoff series.
I will be sincere... Cleveland is not even listening to this offer... I actually think Cleveland will have a top 5 MLB rotation with the group they have so overpaying for Alcantara makes little sense. Cleveland needs more hitting, not pitching...
Cleveland is one SP injury from being in trouble. They have plenty of corner bat options and the 40 man is gonna be a problem VERY soon (probably already is with Ingle, Bazz and Ralph knocking on the door). They need to consolidate somewhere and I think adding an arm like Sandy makes sense. I share your optimism on the current 5. But asking them all to do it for 30 starts + playoffs is probably not tenable. Sandy is better than Allen, Kayfus superfluous on the roster but losing June hurts.
Allen is the 6th guy in the rotation and he is durable as durable can be anymore for a starting pitcher... The depth past Allen is a question especially since we lost Nikhazy... Gomez and Peterson are out with injuries... Who are we taking out of the rotation to get Alcantara? Bibee has been the worst SP, and we both know he isn't being moved. Williams has walk problems but he isn't giving up hits. Cantillo is out of options... Messick has been equal to Alcantara... Cecconi has the worst ERA but a low WHIP... We cannot just move a productive player to the minors in a sense... I think if we move Kayfus it will be for a RH hitter/Someone that better compliments our current roster that way or a near ready SP prospect to a team that needs Kayfus' potential bat...
https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/211523 This is closer to the route I believe Cleveland will go IF they move Kayfus... They will look to add depth plus some rather than just trade for a veteran with a yearish of control with a slightly heavy monetary value of contract...
Your point re: who goes from the rotation is a good one. Weird to be at a point where CLE likely needs to move a bat for SP depth, but here we are. There just is not room for all the bats and as I said, they're one SP injury away from dire straights. I know Allen can eat innings and maybe ST was an aberration but he worries me as the only depth guy before you get to Allard/Avila/Stephan, with AP or Yordan on the shelf.
See if have faith Allen will do just fine, he was originally brought up to early anyways and this gives him a chance to work his pitch mix better since he is a command over power type so I think he will be fine overall... Since we lost our 7-8 guys and another depth piece, at the moment we have to rely on guys like Dion who got passed over again in the Rule 5 or find an external SP and Kayfus or Ralphy have a ton of value since, on paper, we can move them... I don't think we will be making a move for a veteran unless it is to cover a second major injury and it will be to add to the four that are here not trade one...
Yeah, I think you're right with respect to adding a vet: not gonna happen unless there is an injury. Allen had a good first start and is on the mound tonight. Hope you're right. But a "Khal" type for a Kayfus makes more sense...I'd rather move CJ than Ralphy, but know we may differ there.
Brewers would be interested more in Kayfus on paper since he could help them now, while a team like the Rockies could be interested in Ralphy more since he has more upside with the bat, but essentially I feel like we are on the same page. Veteran If injuries, Kayfus or Ralphy for a "Khal" type...
Sneakily, I wonder if Campbell could be MLB depth. Two short MiLB starts, but RV eligible and he’s come back strong in those limited innings. Could be one to watch. I’m bullish in general on him, but that is probably a reach.
I cannot see Campbell being MLB depth in 2026 at all... Though in 2027, he could be in the second half...
