I don't think it's a stretch to think that Trout would likely choose to go to Philly if he were traded at all. He's well known as a Philly sports guy. As a baseball move, a deal such as this would free the Angels of a boat anchor of a contract. He has found the fountain of youth so far this season, but he also turns 35 in August. I used a number near 50% of his remaining salary to enable the Angels to get some value in this 'trade'.
He's on pace for 4.4 fWAR, which is still great considering his age and health history. But anyone trading for him has to be mindful of those health and age issues going forward, given his huge contract. The last year he was this productive was 2022, which was followed by three down years -- all of which suggests he won't be able to keep this up.
