This would be interesting cause Rutschman has been hitting again this year, I'm not really big on those 3 prospects to be honest either, I just don't know if TB can continue to win with this roster though, if they're still winning in July I'd be all for this
Yeah, the prospects were intentionally chosen. Brito is valued like a really good SP prospect but I think he’s a reliever because of his lack of size. Pierce is last year’s 1st rounder and could be really good, but with the Rays about to draft Cholo or Emerson, Pierce is going to be the forgotten man soon. Melton just hasn’t shown me anything to think he’s legit.
I totally agree I think Brito if he makes it will be a RP, Melton was doomed from the start cause TB just doesn't develop LHH well, I think Aranda finally exceeded because he went against what they were telling him, Pierce just doesn't seem more than just a guy to me of an organization filled with the same guy, if they found a way to get Cholo that would be insane cause personally I think they'll "Beckham" Emerson, they really need someone who's already developed by someone else
The Orioles arent making this trade based on value return.... IF you see the issue with the prospects coming back in this package, what makes you think the Orioles dont?
Both Brito and Melton are nearly top 100 prospects and Rays liked them enough to give up B.Lowe and others to get them. Our views of their prospect quality are just that - our views. Lots of people like these guys. It’s fine if you don’t like them either, I’m just answering your question. As for Pierce, he’s a good young prospect who the Rays can afford to trade after the July draft (Rays have the #2 pick and will come away with either Cholo or Emerson). Gotta give to get after all.
All good buddy, I was being argumentative but not in an A'Hole way. Appreciate the feedback. I just dont see the Orioles giving up Adley+Ward for this package especially to a division opponent. I think the Orioles will take a swing at keeping Ward around.
