This is more of an offseason trade. Both teams are cheap in terms of their Big League output so are looking for controllable talent. DC have a surplus of outfielders whilst the Guardians are renowned for developing pitching. The Nats don't have quality pitching prospects for '27 due to Sykora and Susana both having longterm injuries and Cleveland need controllable bats.
I don’t think you realize Cleveland’s outfield depth and their lack of SP depth. This deal makes 0 sense from Cleveland’s perspective. Even if they were willing to deal Williams it would take a helluva lot more to pry him from Cleveland.
Cleveland blocks the Nats if they try to offer this one... They have DeLauter in RF... Martinez has been a solid OF so far... Kwan, may be moved, but Ingle has been playing LF... Williams is not going to be available for this type of return, plus even if Williams was available, Cleveland would want a top 100 pitching prospect with Lile, and probably another top 100 prospect or two... They will be so bullish on him it is not funny...
