LOL... You're really swinging for the fences here. Not sure I see how Mancini improves the Rays though, or how he'll find playing time at 1B/DH.
The outfield is interesting. Deluca is a solid everyday starter in CF if needed or a 4th outfielder against LHP (which keeps him fresh given his injury history). Vilade is ok against both handed pitchers if he needs to play the everyday role. Obviously he’s best used in a platoon capacity given his average at best fielding. I like the lefty Mesa Jr and wouldn’t be surprised to see steady improvement from him. Then there’s Simpson, who seems destined for a trip to Durham. Hopefully it won’t be a long trip. Mullins is hitting 110 wRC+ since May 1st and Melton had started to heat up before his injury. Add it all together, and the Rays might have an ok outfield as is.
Don't hate on my feel good story, lol I actually think this would be good move but I'd have him in LF, I think now that he's healthy his bat is coming around, TB activating DeLuca throws a monkey wrench in my plan but I'd have higher hopes for him this season than I would Lux or Fraley and definitely over Mullins.
Not just Deluca. Melton is now a week into his rehab program. I doubt the Rays keep him down all year, so he’s probably getting called up soon too.
If they do bring up Melton its hopefully to take Mullins' roster spot, I wouldn't be upset if they kept Melton down for awhile though cause his AAA numbers weren't looking very good before the injury, like 33 k's in 20 games, if Mancini is just released I hope they give him a Milb deal cause he of course won't be what he once was but I think he could be a valuable mentor and role player though. There's got to be like a new hitting instructor working with guys this year cause a lot of players have had bif turn arounds and a lot of recent draft picks are killing it compared to the past several years.
